About GurbeTurks

GurbeTurks is a Discord server for Turkish people living outside Turkey. The server exists because being abroad doesn't mean losing connection to home—it's a place where Turks in cities like Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Toronto, and elsewhere can gather to talk in their own language and with people who understand the experience of living between two worlds.

Members use the server to share what they miss from home, celebrate Turkish traditions together, discuss life as a Turk abroad, and swap practical tips about their cities. The conversations focus on the actual experience of gurbet—that specific feeling of being far from home while building a life elsewhere. You'll find people at different points in that journey: some homesick, some thriving in their new city, some navigating both at once.

What makes the server work is that everyone there speaks the language—both Turkish and the unspoken understanding of what it means to carry your roots with you while your feet are planted somewhere else.
