Online count is a much better signal of a community’s health than raw member count. A 50,000-member server with 5,000 people online right now is genuinely buzzing. A 500,000-member server with 500 online is mostly dormant. This list updates every 5 minutes so you always see what’s actually popping off.

About This Ranking
How we measure activity
Every 5 minutes we poll each server’s live widget and record its current online member count — the number of people actually present and available in that server at that instant. The 100 servers on this page are the ones with the highest online counts right now, filtered to include only servers with at least 1,000 total members (to exclude small test servers) and only data points from the last 2 hours (to guarantee freshness).
Why online count beats member count
Total member count is an all-time cumulative number: it includes everyone who ever joined, whether they still use Discord or not. Large servers accumulate millions of inactive members over years. Online count is instantaneous — it’s the truest proxy for whether a community is alive. A server where thousands of people are online at the same time has real ongoing conversations, active voice channels, and fresh content being posted minute by minute. That’s the signal most people actually care about when picking a server to join.
About this ranking
The "% online" column shows the share of total members currently online, which is a useful engagement indicator: anything above 10% generally means a very engaged community. The mini sparkline next to it shows each server’s online trend over the last 24 hours so you can tell if the community is peaking, steady, or winding down.
