A Gay Place is a social server for LGBTQ+ people to hang out and talk without constant disruption from bad-faith actors. Entry goes through a vibe check system—a screening process that catches trolls before they reach the main server. The filtering has held: the server has maintained a troll-free environment over an extended period.

Members customize their identity through custom roles and participate across multiple channels. The server runs a custom bot and maintains content filtering to keep chats SFW. Conversations happen between actual members in a space that functions because the moderation keeps out the noise.
